VO/VOSOT or Mini-PKG: Underprivileged Children and SRP Employees Fill School Bus with Holiday Gifts
It’s a Salt River Project holiday tradition that employees look forward to every year. Students from Fowler Elementary School in the Fowler Elementary School District arrives in a school bus Tuesday morning for the 25th Annual SRP Adopt-an-Angel event to collect donated and gift-wrapped toys for 383 underprivileged students.
In total, SRP employees adopted 1,261 angels this year through the Fowler district and Salvation Army.
In addition to the gift drive, SRP employees collected and donated 165,000 canned food items for its 27th annual Canned Food Drive. In the last 27 years, SRP employees have donated nearly 3 million cans of food to benefit food banks around the state, The Salvation Army, St. Mary’s Food Bank and the United Food Bank.
SRP is a community-based, not-for-profit public power utility and the largest provider of electricity in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area, serving more than 1 million customers. SRP is also the metropolitan area’s largest supplier of water, delivering about 800,000 acre-feet annually to municipal, urban and agricultural water users.
