Valley Farms Energy Center Supports Emergency Preparedness in Coolidge
COOLIDGE, Ariz.– Valley Farms Energy Center, LLC, a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, LLC, is making a donation of more than $114,000 to the City of Coolidge to support the purchase of an emergency mobile generator. The generator will help ensure facilities, like the Coolidge Adult Center, remain in operation and available to residents in the event of a power outage. It will provide a reliable place for residents to gather and seek shelter or stay cool in extreme heat.
Valley Farms Energy Center is a battery energy storage project located in Coolidge with the capacity to store up to 400 megawatts of energy. Battery energy storage systems can support a more reliable electric grid by storing energy when it is available and delivering it when customers need it most.
The contribution is part of Valley Farms Energy Center’s community support commitment with Salt River Project (SRP), the organization purchasing the energy supplied by the project. Community benefits are an important consideration in SRP’s resource decisions, and this contribution reflects a shared focus on meeting local needs. Together, Valley Farms Energy Center and SRP are focused on meaningful ways to support Coolidge based on their priorities.
“We value the collaboration with city leaders and SRP to support projects that provide meaningful benefits for Coolidge residents,” said Kyle Whittier, development director at NextEra Energy Resources. “We appreciate the work the Center does to serve the community, and we are happy this contribution can help the facility remain available during power outages and other times of need.”
"SRP’s commitment to communities expands beyond its service territory, and we are proud to partner with Valley Farms Energy Center to support Coolidge and its residents,” said Chelsey Falk, SRP manager of community activation. “This donation reflects our ongoing investment in the community and our dedication to helping address local priorities.”
