SRP Shares Savings Tips and Resources to Prepare Your Home for Winter

As cooler temperatures arrive, SRP reminds customers that small changes around the home, along with available programs, rebates and discounts, can help keep homes comfortable this winter while reducing energy use.

Some ways to save energy and money this winter include:

  • Set your thermostat to a comfortable temperature – Set it between 68 and 70 degrees when you're home and 65 degrees or lower when you're away.
  • Take advantage of outdoor heat – Keep drapes open during the day to let in the sun's warmth and close them at night to help retain heat.
  • Reverse ceiling fans – Run ceiling fans clockwise at a low speed during winter to help distribute warm air more evenly throughout the room.

Take advantage of SRP programs and rebates.

  • Schedule an SRP Home Energy Assessment (HEA) – An SRP Energy Ambassador will provide a personalized evaluation of your home's energy use, along with recommendations, a customized report, and personalized energy-saving products. Virtual assessments are free to all customers. In-person assessments are free for income-qualified customers and $49 for all others. Customers who complete an in-home assessment between November 1 and December 31 will receive a set of free LED holiday lights. Visit srp.net/hea to learn more.

  • Get duct testing and repair – This program helps identify and repair leaking air ducts, improving comfort and reducing energy waste. SRP covers 75% of duct testing and qualified repair costs, up to $400. Learn more at srp.net/duct.

  • Get an insulation rebate – Proper insulation could cut overall cooling and heating costs by about 10%. Customers can save up to 75% (up to $600) on professionally installed attic insulation with an SRP rebate. To see program requirements or to find a contractor, visit srp.net/insulation.

  • Enroll in Budget Billing – This payment plan helps make energy costs more predictable by spreading seasonal energy expenses across the year. Fall is an ideal time to enroll before higher winter and summer bills affect the average. Learn more at srp.net/budgetbilling.

  • Check available discounts through the SRP Marketplace – Customers can access discounts on smart thermostats, LED lights and other energy-saving products offered through the marketplace. Visit srpmarketplace.com to find energy-efficient products.
