SRP Hosts Additional Open Houses Seeking Input on Planned Marigold Energy Center
WHAT:
Salt River Project (SRP) will host an additional in-person open house event and virtual meeting to share information, answer questions and seek public input about the planned Marigold Energy Center.
The project may include various generating resources to help SRP strengthen the power grid and meet the growing energy demand across Maricopa and Pinal Counties.
These resources could include:
- A 230-kilovolt (kV)/500 kV substation
- Approximately 4 miles of new 230 kV transmission lines
- 600 megawatts (MW) of solar generation
- 400 MW of battery energy storage
- Up to 675 MW of natural gas generation

SRP is a community-based, not-for-profit public power utility and the largest electricity provider in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area, serving about 1.2 million customers. SRP provides water to about 2.5 million Valley residents, delivering 260 billion gallons of water (800,000 acre-feet) each year, and manages a 13,000-square-mile watershed that includes an extensive system of reservoirs, wells, irrigation laterals, and 131 miles of canals.
