NATIVE HEALTH Receives a Solar-Covered Parking Structure through the SRP’s Solar for Nonprofits Program
Salt River Project (SRP) has completed the installation a 40-kW solar parking structure for NATIVE HEALTH at its Mesa location as part of the SRP Solar for Nonprofits™ program. The system is estimated to produce around 74,000 kWh per year, helping reduce energy costs for the nonprofit. With the electricity savings, NATIVE HEALTH plans to reinvest funds into health and wellness programs that benefit the community.
NATIVE HEALTH is a Federally Qualified Health Center that delivers high-quality, patient-centered medical, dental, behavioral health, WIC and wellness services to urban American Indians, Alaska Natives and others who face barriers to holistic, culturally sensitive care.
“NATIVE HEALTH is excited to expand services to our patients in Mesa. This growth requires additional space and infrastructure investments to better serve our community. SRP Solar for Nonprofits is funded entirely by customers who voluntarily add as few as $3 to their energy bill every month. SRP manages the installation process and works closely with both the nonprofit and the solar installer to ensure a successful outcome.

Since launching the program in 2007, SRP has installed 54 solar systems for Valley nonprofits, including the Arizona Humane Society, Junior Achievement and New Leaf. Together, these organizations have saved more than $1.1 million in energy costs while supporting clean, renewable energy.
SRP is a community-based, not-for-profit public power utility and the largest electricity provider in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area, serving about 1.2 million customers. SRP provides water to about 2.5 million Valley residents, delivering 260 billion gallons of water (800,000 acre-feet) each year, and manages a 13,000-square-mile watershed that includes an extensive system of reservoirs, wells, irrigation laterals, and 131 miles of canals.
