Leaders from Arizona State Land Department, SRP, NextEra Energy Resources and Babbitt Ranches Celebrate Completion of 161-MW Babbitt Ranch Energy Center

WHAT:
Salt River Project (SRP), the Arizona State Land Department, NextEra Energy Resources, LLC and Babbitt Ranches are hosting a ribbon-cutting event for the Babbitt Ranch Energy Center. This wind facility will add 161 megawatts (MW) to SRP’S system— enough to power 40,000 homes— and continue SRP’s work to diversify its resource mix as it increases the amount of clean energy delivered to SRP customers. Energy from this project will be used to serve Google’s forthcoming data center, located in Mesa.

• Babbitt Ranch Energy Center will add 161 MW of renewable energy to SRP’s grid—enough to power 40,000 homes.

• Over the life of the Babbitt Ranch Energy Center, the facility is expected to generate approximately $9.5 million in additional tax revenue to the Coconino County area. 
• SRP was the first utility in Arizona to add wind power to its energy resource mix. SRP still receives all energy output from the 127 MW Dry Lake Wind Power Project—the state’s first large-scale wind power facility.
