Free Event Sept. 28: EV Ride & Drive Provides Hands-On Opportunity to Experience Electric Vehicles

WHAT:
More than 100 Valley residents will get behind the wheel – or ride as a passenger – of an electric vehicle (EV) during the Phoenix Ride & Drive event on Sept. 28. Created for people who are interested in experiencing an EV, the no-cost event enables residents to ride or drive a 2.8-mile route around the local area and choose from among nearly 40 different EVs – from Rivians and Teslas to a Ford F-150 Lightning. These cars are made available by their owners, who will be on-hand to answer any questions and share their enthusiasm for EVs.

Those wishing to drive a vehicle may RSVP in advance, provide a valid driver’s license and sign an electronic waiver. Passengers are also required to sign the waiver.

Phoenix Ride & Drive is part of National Drive Electric Week Sept. 27-Oct. 6, a nationwide celebration to raise awareness of the many benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

EV Ride & Drive is hosted by DRIVE Electric Arizona, Valley of the Sun Electric Vehicle Association, City of Phoenix Office of Sustainability, Salt River Project (SRP) and Valley of the Sun Clean Cities Coalition to share the benefits of driving electric, answer questions from prospective drivers and encourage adoption of EVs. 

SRP’s 2035 Sustainability Goals include supporting the adoption of 1 million EVs in its service territory and managing 90% of EV charging by 2035.
