Barlett Lake Levels Expected to Rise as SRP Releases Water from Horseshoe Dam After Recent Storms
SRP plans to release water from the Horseshoe Dam spillway into the Verde River to Bartlett Lake beginning approximately at 1 p.m. today, Monday, November 24 at a rate of approximately 4,500 cubic feet per second (cfs). One cfs is equivalent to about 7.5 gallons per second.
The purpose of the release is to effectively manage the storage between the two reservoirs, Bartlett and Horseshoe, on the Verde River. The wet weather this past week has resulted in high flows on the Verde River with Horseshoe Lake filling up.
Varying releases will continue for the next couple of weeks as Verde River flows will remain high from recent storms. Bartlett Lake will rise accordingly each day. SRP is working with Tonto National Forest and Maricopa County Sheriff’s office to alert the public as well as through local and social media.

Campers are urged not to park or camp next to the water and pay attention to rising lake levels.
