Arizona Supreme Court Associate Justice Timmer to Discuss Journey to State's Highest Court

WHAT: Associate Justice Ann A. Scott Timmer with the Arizona Supreme Court will speak at the International Women’s Day employee luncheon at SRP. She will discuss her successes, challenges and journey to the state’s highest court. Justice Timmer is the only woman currently on the Court’s bench of seven justices and the fourth woman to serve on the Court since Statehood in 1912. She will begin a five-year term as the Vice Chief Justice of the Court on July 1. Supreme Court justices oversee the administration of Arizona’s judicial branch, consisting of more than 400 full- and part-time judges and more than 9,000 total judicial branch employees who serve Arizona’s statewide population of approximately seven million residents. Before her appointment to the Supreme Court, Justice Timmer was Chief Judge of the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division One.

International Women’s Day 2019 is March 8. The SRP employee event, which focuses on the International Women’s Day theme of Balance for Better, is sponsored by two SRP employee interest groups – the Women’s Interest Network and the Generation Next Committee. This year’s theme, Balance for Better, is a call to action to build a gender-balanced world.
